Activities and "stations" for a Tolerance Unit
Writes Deborah Fogg, grade 7 language arts teacher at Lancaster (NH) School:
The Revealers is central to our Tolerance Unit. I read the book aloud to kick off the unit. We also do team-building activities, diversity bingo, a bullying IQ and other activities. What our school did last year that we thought was really effective was the creation of our Tolerance Day. We invited the other 7th grade school in our district to join with us. We set up stations that the students rotated through on that day.
We were fortunate that one station was Doug! It was very powerful for the students to meet him, listen to how he researched the story and learn about the process he went through to write The Revealers.
